Skeetfield Chardonnay 2019 Awarded 20/20 – Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

Off With a Bang 💥

Our newly released 2019 Skeetfield Chardonnay has been awarded 20/20 from Raymond Chan Wine Reviews. Now managed by Candice Chow, this is Candice's first 20/20 wine

Upon first tasting it, Candice told me she scored Skeetfield 19.5/20. But then, there was a halcyon moment, she retasted it and thought, "this is actually so bloody perfect this might be the one!"

The Skeetfield Vineyard has old vine dry-farmed Mendoza Chardonnay vines. The fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed with minimal settling. It's 100% barrel fermented and matured, with 60% new Taransaud French oak.

Indigenous ferment and malo-lactic ferment have provided complexity and depth. And battonage on lees gives it a superb textural quality.

It's a serious wine for the cellar, succulent and saucy now, but will reward your patience. I'll be putting a few cases aside for my 50th vintage celebrations!
